Every current Chesly account gets a 12-word recovery phrase when it is created. The phrase restores your Chesly identity and account, so treat it like a password and never share it. Chesly support will never ask for it.
Your verified email is the normal way to sign in. The recovery phrase is your fallback when you cannot use email sign-in or approve a new device from one that is already signed in.
View and back up your phrase
Settings > Privacy & Security > Recovery Phrase. Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode.
Write the 12 words down on paper or save them in a password manager.
Sign in on another device
The easiest method is to tap Start unifying, enter the same verified email, and use the 6-digit code sent to your inbox. If asked, approve the sign-in on one of your other Chesly devices.
You can also tap Pair an existing device on the welcome screen:
- Recovery Phrase: type the 12 words.
- Pair with Device: scan the QR from Settings > Privacy & Security > Connect Another Device on your old device.
If you lose it
If you still have a signed-in device, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Recovery Phrase to view it again or use Connect Another Device to pair by QR. You can also sign in with your verified email.
If you lose the phrase, lose access to the verified email, and have no signed-in device left, Chesly cannot restore that account. You will need to create a new account and reconnect your inboxes.
